Litter (birth colony)

A 4-year-old Burmese cat named Tarawood in Church Westcote, England, gave birth to 19 kittens in 1970, history's largest kitty litter. Fifteen survived.

A female ferret can have 160 babies, with two litters of about nine babies each year.

Polar bears have a very slow reproductive rate, females typically having only five litters (usually of two cubs) in a lifetime.

The largest litter of pigs on record was 37. However the average litter is 12 piglets.

The largest litter of rabbit ever reported consisted of 24 babies, which are known as kits (short for kitten).

Carnivores, rodents, and pigs usually have litters, while primates and larger herbivores usually have singletons.
