Finger

James Doohan, who played Scotty in the original series of Star Trek, never revealed both hands in any of the episodes because of the loss of one of his fingers (lost in combat during the D-Day invasion while storming the beach.)

In 2004 Paulo Diogo of the Swiss football team got his wedding ring caught on a metal fence while celebrating a goal, ripping his finger off. He was then penalized with a yellow card for wasting time when officials were searching for his finger.

The length of the finger dictates how fast the finger-nail grows. Therefore, the nail on your middle finger grows the fastest.

There are no muscles in human fingers. All the work is done by the muscles in the palms and forearms.

Without your pinky finger, you would lose 50% of your hand strength.

Fingers are never perfectly straight. Usually the index, ring and small finger curve slightly toward the middle finger.

Fingertips have a large number of receptors responsible for sending instant messages to the brain.

People with nerve damage in their fingers do not get pruned fingers when they're wet.

When you snap your finger, your finger moves at about 20 mph.

Apart from humans, dogs are the only other known species that can understand finger pointing. Not even chimpanzees could manage it in one study.
