Clothes Manufacturer

Giuliana Benetton having began to design and manufacture her own small range of sweaters which her brother sold to local shops, built their own factory in 1965 and then opened her first shops. This was followed by an expanding export business with 6400 outlets in almost 100 countries.

The Benetton company, the largest knitwear company in the world, is still controlled by members of the Benetton family.

The English clothing manufacturer Burberry which started in 1856 in Basingstoke in South East England, gained its famous beige, red and black identity at the beginning of  the 20th century. By the 1920s its trenchcoat, which was originally made for The Great War soldiers, had become the company’s mainstay.

Only 2% of the clothing sold in America is made in America.
