George Clooney

George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky. His mother, Nina Bruce (née Warren) was a beauty queen. His father, Nick Clooney is a former anchorman and television host, including five years on the AMC network.

George Clooney is not only the nephew of jazz singer Rosemary Clooney, but through his mother's family, he is a distant relative of Abraham Lincoln.

While he was a struggling actor in Los Angeles, George Clooney rode a bicycle to get to auditions.

Clooney's friend let the young struggling actor stay in his apartment – but owing to a lack of spare room, he had to sleep in a closet.

When serving rich women customers at a shoe store in 1979, some had toes surgically removed to fit into trendy shoes, and the young George was repelled by the sight.

George Clooney's first TV acting role was as an extra in the mini-series Centennial in 1978, which was based on the novel of the same name by James A. Michener.

George Clooney loves beer. He does voice overs for Budweiser TV commercials and allegedly had a beer keg installed in his dressing room during filming of Ocean's Eleven (2001).

He has stated in several interviews that he has suffered from bleeding stomach ulcers, and is still on medication for stomach pain to this day.

In 2007, after Clooney was injured in a motorcycle accident, two dozen staff at the hospital in New Jersey were suspended without pay for taking a sneaky look at his medical record.

George Clooney owned a pet pig named Max. He shared an L.A. home with Kelly Preston when both were struggling actors. The porker grew to be 300lb and shared his life for 18 years. Max slept in the house and would occasionally accompany his owner to interviews. When he died in 2006, Clooney could not bear to replace him.

On September 27, 2013 Clooney gave 14 of his close friends $1 million each as a surprise gift. The actor also paid their taxes for the year.

George Clooney bet Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman $10,000 he wouldn't be married or have children by the age of 40. He won the bet.

George Clooney is the only person to be nominated for Academy Awards in six different categories. (Directing, Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture (as producer)).
